Hare Hills Lane

In times past, this very old route was known as the saddleback, an old pack horse route that led to the corn mill that once stood at Deepcar. It is extremely steep in places and has sections that are worn into holloways, indicating much use over many years. There is an information board at the end of the lane nearest More Hall Reservoir. The Lane is mentioned in the Bolsterstone Inclosure Award of 1798. It is shown on the OS first series six inch to one mile map circa 1850. The Definitive Map reference is: STO/44
